WHO WE ARE
Cherry Castle Publishing is one of America's newest and most energetic black-owned publishers of great literature. We are a press that honors the vibrant multicultural voice of American literature, one book at a time.
Our fundamental commitment is to practice literary activism, publishing equality, and to embrace work that is informed by the social, political and living vigor of our times.
HOW WE CAME TO BE
In 2013, just after Truth Thomas won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work in Poetry, founded Cherry Castle Publishing. He did so to add a black press to the American publishing landscape where the presence of such publishers is largely nonexistent. Thomas recognized a need for black writers, all writers of color, and marginalized communities to have their work welcomed for publishing consideration free from burdens of cultural censorship.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Cherry Castle Publishing aspires to boldly express the equal value of all people--and particularly that of black people in the United States--through the publication of quality, profoundly powerful literary art. To that end, our goal is to help the honest and original literary expressions of African American, Latinx, LGBTQIA, Womanist, and Feminist writers to shine.
